Noel Palmer, Ph.D., Chief Scientist, CBx Sciences & Evolab

At Evolab & CBx Sciences, we have formulated a variety of products utilizing the capabilities of the different cannabinoids. Currently in our formulations you might find (alone or in combination) CBD, THC, THCA, CBDA, CBN, delta-8 THC, and CBG. Different cannabinoids can be used to draw different effects to the end user.

Taking our formulations to a deeper level, we have included ‘complimentary ingredients’ in many of our products. These botanicals have been researched as to not be counter-indicative of cannabinoids (meaning they react in the body in a way that doesn’t help) and these extra ingredients are designed to draw an added therapeutic benefit. Some of our notable complimentary ingredients are described below.

Passion Flower – Passion flower has traditionally be used to treat anxiety, stress, and help aid with sleep. A few types of chemicals found in Passion Flower (chrysin and benzoflavone) have been found to increase GABA levels in the brain. GABA is one of the inhibitory neurotransmitters in the brain whose function is to maintain balance. Passion flower also exhibits powerful anti oxidation properties and has been shown to help lower blood pressure.

Thyme – Thyme is a Mediterranean herb that is thought to have antibacterial and antifungal properties.  As well, thyme has been found to be good at lowering blood pressure. Thyme produces chemicals called thymol and carvacrol – which in scientific studies were shown to be profound anti-inflammatory. In aromatherapy, thyme has been shown to support the immune system and clear the respiratory tract.

Green Tea - Many of us are familiar with green tea and its numerous benefits. Ailments that might be positively affected with green tea are: heart disease, liver disease, anti-inflammatory, neuroprotective, and cholesterol-lowering. Adding to this amazing herb, we find a small amount of caffeine that adds an ‘upper’ effect to any product that includes this herb.

Melatonin - Melatonin is a naturally occurring hormone produced by the pineal gland and is used to treat insomnia – although clinical evidence for melatonin supplements inducing sleep is minimal in the literature.

Menthol - Menthol is used as a complimentary ingredient in our topical products because of its ability to agonize TRPM8 receptors on the skin. These receptors are also called the ‘cold receptors’ and they are responsible for the cooling sensation when applied topically.  Menthol has been found to induce pain relief and analgesia resulting from traumatic injuries.

Vitamin B12 – Vitamin B12 (also called cobalamin) and is essential to cellular metabolism in the human body and it is a cofactor in DNA synthesis. It has been found that Vitamin B12 deficiency can often be a cause for chronic fatigue.

We strongly believe in the therapeutic potential of cannabis. Throughout the world, cannabis legalization is taking hold for both recreational and medical purposes. This is giving power to the people, as people are able to use cannabis under the supervision of a physician and/or people are able to use cannabis for personal reasons. We have heard a plethora of reasons as to why people have chosen to use cannabis; sleep, appetite, pain, epilepsy, neurological challenges – the list goes on and on. Engage and activate your Endocannabinoid System by visitng your local dispensary. You can hunt down CBx Sciences products through their store locator or on their weedmaps.
